This page will describe the origins of myth, based on early myths in different cultures and societies.

Some people think that myths began as "Euhemerism" Myths are real historical events. Storytellers repeatedly historical until the figures gained the status of gods. Other people think, myths began as "Allegory" for natural like Apollo represents fire, Poseidon represents water. Another is myths began as allegories for philosophical or spiritual concepts like Athena represents wise judgment, Aphrodite represents desire. Some think myths began as "Personification". Personification is basically giving a in animate object person like features. Examples maybe have a chair with two eyes and a mouth. A personification would a famous mythical creature known as a Centaur, half horse, half human.

Euhemerism

The theory of the Greek writer Euhemerus that the gods of mythology were deified human beings; theory that myths are based on traditional accounts of real people and events.
